Full Strawberry Moon in Sagittarius
What This Moon Signifies and How You Can Celebrate
The moon's significance and symbology is all about magic, spiritual growth, the unseen, the shadow, emotions, subconscious thought, feelings, and the collective unconscious. We as a people follow the cycles of the seasons and the moon without even being aware of it. But when you do become aware of this deeply primal and instinctive part of your soul, and you attune to the wisdom of these cycles, you activate a whole new sense of being and belonging.
Like the quote in my book, Finding Me in Lunar Alchemy: Manifesting Your Magical Life and Self Healing with The Moon and Menstrual Cycle, says -
Once we are attuned to the moon and the seasons, we can activate the innate powers of our nature. - Alea Quiles
The Full Strawberry Moon, the full moon of June, is in Sagittarius and will rise after sunset. This moon has always held significance for Indigenous peoples of North America. It is the turn of the wheel, the cycle of the season, where the strawberries are ripe and juicy, ready for picking. The first berries, a gift, before a summer harvest. They provide sweetness to life and a taste of the sun.
Strawberries are bright red, which signifies the Root Chakra. And the moon in Sagittarius signifies exploration. Especially inner exploration. When we go and explore, no matter where we find a path, we must feel safe and grounded. This also lies within the Root Chakra. Coupled with the fire that Sagittarius brings, the energy of today and for the next few days after the full moon is one of joy, excitement, conquering fears, bringing clarity and sweetness to communication, and exploring roads and ideas with a fiery passion.
Shadow Work and The Moon
A full moon on any given day is a good time to reap the results and rewards of your hard work and intentions, but especially today. The full moon will also illuminate what was hidden and reveal the next move for you. Making this a perfect time for inner exploration and shadow work.
Sagittarius is The Explorer or Seeker in the Jungian Archetypes. I wrote a post about decluttering by archetypes and you can read more about The Explorer here »
Sagittarius and The Explorer are driven by passion and discovery. They find purpose in freedom. Since we are talking about the moon, we are also talking about our subconscious. The hidden aspects of ourselves. Below you will find some journal prompts to help you discover hidden truths about your inner landscape, using the Root Chakra and The Explorer as our guides.
Where do I currently feel bored in my life, work, and art?
Where would I like to continue exploring? What feels like my edge? What if I push into that just a little deeper? What would I discover?
Have I lost sight of my purpose? My intentions? If so, where and when did it happen? What can I do now that I’ve become aware of this?
If not, where are my intentions leading me? What has opened up for me so far?
Are there any areas of my life where I feel trapped or constricted? Is there anything that feels like a no, but I continue to do it anyway? What if I explore the feelings of letting that go?
Are there any areas of my life where I feel like I might be conforming to what’s expected of me? What would I do instead? How could I show up even more authentically?
Where do I currently feel fear? How is it holding me back? What would it feel like to release the resistance to this fear and walk hand in hand towards my dreams?
What does freedom feel like? Where in my body do I feel it? What would happen if I followed this feeling? What might the universe show me?
You can choose one or two that resonate, or you may want to journal on them all. Take your time and enjoy the process. Try not to judge what you are writing or try to figure out where it’s coming from. It’s helpful to follow this guideline for a therapeutic journaling experience -
Judgement Free - try not to judge your thoughts, feelings, emotions, or circumstances or experiences. Just allow the pen to contact the page and see where it goes.
Observation - when reading your words back, observe your feelings, but don’t judge them.
Understanding - by releasing judgment and observing our thoughts and feelings, we can bring a whole new understanding to our inner landscape.
Revelation - journaling as a practice, with non-judgemental observation can help us to realize our own subconscious programming. It can also help us discover more about ourselves, our true desires and dreams.
Needs Assessment - committing to this as a practice can help with personal growth by allowing us to see where we have hidden needs, problems that could have easy solutions, and clarifying our feelings.
Awareness - journaling is a powerful tool to help broaden your awareness of situations, experiences, events, and your overall life. Which helps us make more informed decsions moving forward with clarity.
Life - putting pen to paper can help show you how to reclaim your happiness and take steps towards living a more aligned and purposeful life, by showing you a reflection of that you have already lived.
wRitual
Every day can be a (w)ritual. Every day, we can write, journal, and explore our inner knowing. Life is a ceremony. The ground we walk on is holy. We are experiencing this one life together, here and now, in our own vessels, that we will never experience again. Isn’t that the definition of magic?
The moon beckons us beneath her fullness to dance, sing, and create meaning. So now, let’s make a ritual to celebrate this full moon!
My favorite things to do during a full moon are to cleanse my home with smoke, say my prayers as I walk from room to room, and do a little burning ritual, safely.
Follow along to see how you can bring some lunar magic into your home, too.
Take some time to journal today, and if you can, watch the moonrise. Sit beneath the stars and reflect on the moon's light. Imagine that she is cleansing you with her light, letting any negativity fall to the Earth to be renewed.
Then take a piece of paper and write what you want to release. This could be anything from anger and envy to resistance moving forward. Rip the paper up and place it in a fire-safe bowl and light it with a match or candle. Watch the entire thing burn down into ash.
Thank the lessons from this thing you’re releasing. After all, you did need it at one point in your life. Just not any longer. Then write your intentions. What would you like to call in its place? What would you like to focus on going forward? Write that down, place it in the fire safe bowl, and light it. Release the outcome of how your intentions and manifestations come to you, as you watch the paper twist and curl and turn to dust, while the smoke reaches the heavens and stars.
Finish your little ritual by thanking the moon, your space, and yourself for showing up for a moment of mindfulness and sacred writual.
And so it is!
